Dreaming of a Robinson Crusoe adventure? It’s hard to dampen an adventurous soul, which is why this next unique maritime activity is the answer to your needs!

30 minutes South of Melaka Town lies Pantai Siring (Siring Beach), a perfect spot to kickback and watch the sun set (or rise!). Beautiful as the view may be, Pantai Siring is known by locals and tourists alike for a much more exciting reason.

The exhilarating sport of deep-sea fishing can be done at the charming kelongs – offshore platforms built predominantly of wood – of Pantai Siring, amidst the heaving waves of the ocean. Having explored the hustle and bustle of Melaka’s city, we recommend a day of deep-sea fishing for a chance to escape and bask in a view of the ocean much like the pages of a magazine.

Deep-sea fishing is a sport that explores deep waters and provides the opportunity to learn the wonders that the ocean has to offer. It’s an exciting experience, and those who have taken part in this angling activity knows very well how thrilling it can be! Acquaint yourself with the right ways to lure, reel and haul huge catches of fish and you’ll soon realize that fishing is not quite the passive past time you believe.

The seven family-owned kelongs off the shore of Pantai Siring are often packed on Fridays and Saturdays. Marine enthusiasts from all around the world flock together for almost 24-hours of fishing in Malaysian waters. From RM25, begin your deep-sea fishing experience with a boat ride to one of the seven kelongs, where you’re provided a hut for shelter against the elements or overnight hang outs under the stars. The kelongs are ideal spots, but cinching a massive catch can take some time. Once you do, however, the kind folk at the jetty will be more than happy to whip up a delicious meal from your day’s catch, accompanied by local sambal! Now that’s a story for loved ones back home.

If you’re a first timer, it’s especially fun to take note of the different species of marine life caught. You never know what new marine creatures you’d come to know of. If you’re lost on what your latest big catch is, ask a friendly Melakan local!

Each fishing trip in the deep end will bring you unforgettable memories! We wouldn’t be surprised if you come back for more as Pantai Siring is known to capture the hearts of its visitors – hook, line and sinker! After a day of epic fishing, drop your bags off at The Rucksack Caratel’s Jonker Wing or Garden Wing located near Melaka’s hotspots for even more adventures.
